Awarded spa and fitness contract onboard Balmoral
October 2007
The Onboard Spa Company continue to maintain the lion's share of the UK Cruise market after being awarded the contract to operate the Spa and Fitness Centre onboard Fred. Olsen Cruises Lines' fifth vessel, the Balmoral. Having operated successfully on board the Fred. Olsen Cruises existing vessels for more than 5 years now, it may have appeared to be the logical choice, however, The Onboard Spa Company created an entirely new offering for the tender process for this vessel.
Darryl Preston, Managing Director of Operations, said: "We decided that we needed to evolve the onboard offering to meet the demands of a larger vessel and an ever growing passenger profile. The Atlantis Spa and Fitness Centre onboard Balmoral shall be a true flagship facility for the cruise line and as a result we have created an offering and new collateral to match.
"The Salon is large with 4 hair stations, 2 pedicure thrones and 2 manicure stations. The Spa has 7 treatment rooms and it provides us with the opportunity to launch Acupuncture treatments onboard Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines for the first time".
Situated forward on the upper decks with panoramic views, the Fitness Centre and gym offer excellent facilities also. The Gym features Life Fitness equipment and there is a large Group Exercise Studio overlooking the bow of the vessel.
A team of hand picked experienced staff members, many of which have sailed onboard Fred. Olsen vessels previously, will launch Atlantis Spa and Fitness Centre onboard the Balmoral in January 2008. Throughout 2008, the new offering featured onboard Balmoral will then be rolled out on the remainder of the fleet. After the Braemar is extended and refurbished, the new Atlantis Spa and Fitness Centre offering will be launched onboard in May before being introduced to the Boudicca, Black Watch and the Black Prince.
